Some of the very best professional tellers of folk tales, fairytales, myths and legends will be arriving from across the UK and the wider world to perform to adult and family audiences, in an exuberant festival celebration of the humour, passion and magic of stories. The artists include singers of the ancient epic 'Mahabharata' from India; representatives of the Cherokee and Lakota Sioux first nations of the Americas; a performance of one of the oldest known stories in the world, the Sumerian epic 'Gilgamesh'; tellers of stories from the Caribbean and the Middle East - and of course spinners of Yorkshire Yarns. And you don't have to wait until April to get a taste of the festival. Join us at the Playhouse as we wake the world of story, with monthly adult performances by the UK's top storytellers. We'll also be running storytelling outreach events and workshops for a range of community groups in and around Leeds, both before and during the festival. If you'd like us to keep you informed about up and coming events, additions to the programme and other BtBN news, then please join our mailing list. Beyond the Border North International Festival of Performance Storytelling, a vibrant extravaganza of stories, is coming to the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds from the 11th to the 14th April 2007.
